My art practice is fueled by explorations of relationship dynamics, our connection to nature and vulnerability. With drawing and painting I create figures in diaristic psychological planes that investigate my inner landscapes with surreal narratives that question my physical surroundings and emotional attachments.
The characters of my paintings are interconnected with each other, the physical world and investigate the fragility of ourselves and the ecosphere. The figures in the paintings are androgynous and racially nonspecific to consider that we have much more in common than appearances. I find comfort in the idea that many others have felt the same things I have, and battled the same inner conflicts. The personal is often universal, which reminds me that we are never really alone.
I aspire to offer viewers a dreamscape—a space for introspection on fragility, beauty, and the interconnected nature of our existence. I hope this will help to embolden ideas of social and environmental justice. Creating art is my way of healing and hoping for a better future.
