Bio:

Kiera Stuart is a queer feminist contemporary artist known for her surreal figurative oil paintings. Raised in rural Long Island, NY, she was deeply influenced by her parents' teachings about native cultures, environmental justice, and living in harmony with the earth. Stuart pursued anatomical drawing and fine art at the Fashion Institute of Technology and The Art Students League before earning a Bachelor's degree in Studio Art from Hunter College in 2018. She completed her MFA in Fine Art at Brooklyn College in 2022, where she developed a strong interest on feminist studies, ecofeminism, and feminist art.

Her artistic journey includes time spent in Mexico City, Guanajuato, and the Yucatán Peninsula, where she delved into Mayan and Aztec art and history. She also participated in the Sachaqa Art Residency in Tarapoto, Peru, near the Amazon Rainforest in 2024, and the Soaring Gardens Residency in Lacyville PA in 2019 and 2020.

Stuart curated five exhibitions featuring over 60 local artists at the Box Factory Gallery from 2020 to 2024. Her own work has been showcased nationally, including a solo exhibit at the Box Factory Gallery in 2022 and a group show titled "Beyond Gender'' at Relational Space Gallery in Chelsea, NYC, hosted by Ceres Gallery in 2023. Based in Bushwick, Brooklyn, she maintains an active studio practice, exploring vulnerability, and the similarities between the female body and nature- while engaging with the NYC art scene.
